Day 2 Climbing / Tower Bridge / Buckingham Palace

The day started with a free Breakfast! Nothing too fancy. Some cereal and toast. Aaron was hoping for some eggs and bacon, but was happy with what he got. We seemed to be the only people in pajamas, which was pretty uncomfortable until another American couple walked in wearing theirs. We decided to find a grocery store to get snacks and lunch for the day ( food  EVERYTHING is expensive here). Instead, we found a tiny co-op where we bought bananas, cheese, and stuff for peanut butter sandwiches. Our goal for the day was to climb, and climb we did. Last night, we found an awesome gym called the Arch Climbing Wall online. We kept seeing word "biscuit", while googleing, which was a little confusing. Turns out a few months ago, they added a new building to the gym by putting up climbing walls in an old biscuit factory a couple blocks away. Turns out biscuit factories make for pretty great rock climbing gyms. We exchanged beta with a couple of cool climbers and worked some r

Day 1: Crossing the Pond

The day started off somewhat frantically packing and cleaning. We needed to leave by 2:30. It was 2:04 and our friend, Mike, still hadn't responded to our 257 phone calls. He was supposed to drive us to the airport. Just a small heart attack. No big deal. (THANKS FOR DRIVING US TO THE AIRPORT MIKE!) The flight was relatively uneventful. We had a 2 hour layover in Toronto. They had really good hamburgers. Our flight to London wasn't too bad. 7 hours with a baby sitting across the isle. The baby was actually incredibly well behaved, but her parents were super obnoxious. You know it's going to be a nice flight when the people sitting next to you announce "We're the annoying couple with the baby on the plane!" After standing in line for customs, we were trying to rearrange our packs to get ready for the 1 hour train ride to our hostel. Kaylea was trying to cinch up her backpack when the end of the drawstring snapped off and almost hit someone sitting on a benc

Tying the Loose Ends

It's almost 1 in the morning, and we're still finishing up. Our flight isn't until 5 pm tomorrow, so we'll have plenty of time to finish up packing and cleaning before we have to get to the airport. This weekend was spent saying goodbyes to families. There were some tears and  a lot of hugs. Kaylea spent Saturday working at Skyline Trapeze and came back sunburned, making it her fourth consecutive weekend with pink shoulders. After that it was a rush to get to Cleburne to watch her dad and brother team rope. Her dad won a buckle. Sunday morning we had a birthday breakfast at a cafe since we'll be gone for Kaylea's birthday. The food was meh, but it was fun. Kaylea got flowers, a balloon, and an awesome cupcake. After breakfast, it was another rush to get Kaylea to work at Skyline. I went to visit, and her boss let me have a few swings! Then Kaylea went to work at Summit while I went to my parents. Kaylea came by after she got off work, and we had din

The Practice Pack

It's 4 days before our big trip, and we've just finished our practice pack . It went pretty well. We're cutting it pretty close. Kaylea has a bunch of stuff, but she's an awesome packer. I didn't think I had that much stuff, but it turns out I'm going to be carrying 2 backpacks everywhere. After the practice pack, and the 5 minute selfie stick session, we argued about what this blog was going to look like for a while. It's a work in progress. We're excited!
